evening guys and gals, well work have given me 2 weeks holiday from friday, very unexpected but VERY welcome lol so have decided to do a few odds and sods to the car. The list as it stands:
1 - both front shocks need replacing, the pimped up bouncy suspension isn't a good look lol (to be fair they have needed to be done since I've had it, about 3yrs)
2 - Steering idler, again needed to be done for years
3 - just ordered a parking sensor kit thingy so will be putting that on
and finally may do an oil and filter change. Reguarding number 1, is there a guide for doing it? never changed the front shocks before so wondering how much of a pita it is to do, also best place for the shocks and associated parts?
I'm guessing it'll be easier to the steering idler at the same time as the passenger shock?
If anyone one is free for a sat or sunday then your welcome to come along and see me have an epic fail :D

The front shocks aren't particularly difficult, but robust spring compressors are ESSENTIAL! If you don't have, or can't scrounge some, don't do the job.
Clean and regrease the strut bearings whilst you have it all apart.
I bought mine from Allgerman parts.

I've never had need to do the Omega's front shockers, but you'll need a substantial set/pair of spring compressors, :y :y & geometry check afterwards. :y

hmmm, well there is quite a lot of bounce in them and suspect they are the original set, was hoping it was a simple case for slide out the old and slide in the new, I don't have a set of or access to spring compressors so may have to put that on hold

If you have a local garage/workshop ;D its worth removing the existing shocks with springs fitted.
Arrive at local garage/workshop and ask if they would remove old springs and fit the new ones for you as sure to have a large floor mounted spring press. :y
Should take them about 5 mins a side and probably will cost about a tenner for the Christmas drink fund. ;) :y
Take the new units back home and fit them...saves the cost of buying or hiring a set of spring compressors and the agro of doing them :y

re your parking sensors mate.............. did you order the hong kong version as per car-nuts maintenance guide? might want to check it out.
