Not....
Look at this for a bodge

Oh blimey! I've got a 'breadboard' for prototyping somewhere.... perhaps I should send it down to you!!!
;D
-
You should have used a strip board PCB!!!!

So have I, in the shed. On the shelf, right under where the shed has started leaking :(

The intention was to use breadboard, as only temporary. When that didn't work, I was about to etch a pcb (no vero in the house, or if there is I can't find it), couldn't find the ferric chloride stuff :(

What is it TB??
EPROM programmer.

whats that do then?

whats that do then?
Programs EPROMS.

i think i`ll just sit in the corner with me coke and packet of cheese an onion crisps..i`m still none the wiser :-[

`Looks like the electrickery-spider`s been makin` webbies! ;D
-
Got a Big bag of cable ties if you want em!
-
Looks good to me :y.....does that mean you have to start again then ::)
-
I found some strip board in the garage yesterday, I use small bits to mount pickups on locos as well
-
Can it walk on it's own? Does it bite? :-/
-
Can it walk on it's own? Does it bite? :-/
It'll walk itself to maplins.co.uk and jump on a breadboard if it has any latent intelligence .... :)
-
looks good to me you just need to clean the joints and trim and reflow the spikes and it will look even better. dose it fly???
-

thats 2 words you dont hear in the same sentence since craplins tried to become a computer firm (and failed, and now seems to struggle for a direction).
Said EPROM is now programmed, so this bodge is no longer required and will be on its way to landfill soon....
-
Question is....what is on said Prom?

Totally agree .. but since Tandy's went there are very few places left ... just a few independents, so you end up fighting the Maplins of this world and hopefully eventually get the bits you need.
:(

And Maplins run the risk of going same way as Tandy, as they have the same fascination with computers and disco lights, rather than electronics bits >:(

That reminds me - short circuit 2 is on over the weekend.

I've got a sneaky suspicion I know which Eprom you've been reprogramming........ ;)
-
The last time i'd seen something like that it had just blown up :o ;D ;D.

Really? Coz I have no idea what I'm doing ;D

You dont want to do that........shove your creation in a white pvc box......fill it with resin........put a nice label on it saying eprom programmer and flog it on fleabay.......jobs a goodun :y :D

THats confirmed my suspicion that taxi drivers are all crooks ;D. Or if the one Wednesday night is anything to go by, Colin McRae has reincarnated ;D
BTW TD, my pressie arrived, thanks :y

do you mind if i share with you......
looks clever but bugger me if i know what it does
EPROM = Electronic Programmable Read Only Memory...is that right???
-
I'm still completely lost. I've got a breadboard & a serrated knife to go with it. I feel old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

EPROM = Electronic Programmable Read Only Memory...is that right???
PROM - Programmable Read Only Memory
EPROM - Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (normally UV light to erase, hence window on such chips)
EEPROM - Electrically Erasable PROM
Technically this programmer is for EEPROMS.
So that heap of wires is for putting new software and/or data (eg, fuel map) onto one of the Omega ECUs ::)

TB, You should have used a professional Electronics Engineer to build that for you. I happen to know of a couple that are shortly to be out of work.
PS, you missed the Write Only Memory as invented by Burroughs.

Now there's a blast from the past, I started in IT working for a third party maintenance company who's Director and most of the engineers were X Borroughs / Sperry / Convergent Tech / Unisys engineers.... I've spent many hours (usually early hours of the morning!) messing about with A5 and A10 Mainframes ::)

That's too good for landfill.
Chuck it up into a tree. It's nearly spring. Something's bound to nest in it! ;D
Well, that ain't going to program a 27c256, so it's not the MV6's map. :-/

When you're done programming your EEPROM, try it in your GPS. That many 5cm antenna all in the same place should boost your reception a treat :)

I have a proper programmer for 27 series (though have to boot off a DOS disk to use), though not sure it can do 32kB chips....
