I want to fit a hand primer to the fuel feed pipe, there are two pipes that come off the top of the fuel filter housing, there is one marked "Out" and one marked "In" does anybody know which one I cut to fit the primer.
Thank You

I assume you have a diesel, which one 2.2 or 2.5?
You need to pull the fuel through the filter so fit it to the 'out' bit...
I'd try and fix the fault rather than mask it.

Brikhead.
Hi. I dont have a problem now, but earlier this year I parked my miggy on the caravan site, and she was back end down, all the fuel ran back from the fuel filter, so one of the guys advised me that when she was running, to fit a hand primer pump the the inline fuel filter and as it had a one way valve there would always be fuel stacked up in the injector pump, apparantely its a common problem on miggies, and yes its a 2.2 Diesel. was going to sell it, but just removed all the for sale ads from the net and local area, cant bring myself to get rid of her, best car I have ever had, followed second by a Vauxhall Senator.

not a common fault, can't think of any members with one. Sounds more like lift pump problem

As far as I know there is no lift pump on a 2.2 diesel, at least definitely not on a Vectra or Ashtray. The injector pump is expected to 'suck' it all the way from the fuel tank...

Which it does when everything is working properly.
When it isn't, all bets are off.
Self priming diesels often don't.

I thought all diesel Omegas were fitted with an intank electric pump to prime the injector pump lines?

Just the earlier (B.M.W. 6 cylinders) 2.5's, as far as I know.

I had the same problem with my 2.2 dti.
Parked nose up the lines would drain back to the tank. There was a small leak on the lines somewhere just enough to break the airlock and empty the lines. There is no lift pump.
I fitted a hand primer on the line out of the filter into the injection pump. The pipe that runs inside a silvery kind of heat protection padding across the front of the engine.
The 2.2 dti is sensitive to fuel level too. Car tilting to the left on too low a fuel level (about £10 worth) = injection pump run dry. Get it back level and pump the primer and it was good to go again.
