:) Yo, I am on a roll tonight posting. I may be opening a box of worms here, but here goes. will Slick 50 (Diesel ) benefit my Miggy at all. she is a 2.2 Diesel with 136000 miles on the clock,

I use to be a fan of Slick 50 (years ago) but was never really convinced after a while on its ability to clog up oil wells and breather systems so quickly.

I tried this years ago when i would try anything to make my Escort 1300E go faster....never seemed to make any difference. I still use it (Slick for gearboxes) on gearboxes when they seem to feel not as smooth as they should be and to be honest it works (for me) on the gearboxes.

Used to use it also. Never saw any difference. More of my psychological thing making you think your doing the best by your engine when your probably spending money for no good reason. ;) regular servicing is the way forward.

I stupidly believed mechanic friend, it would add 50 microns to to everything. use two tins and that would be 100. trying to improve CR on Fiat 130 coupe, the guy down the road said his would do 130, put hole in piston at 125 , already over redline. SNAKEOIL. I was youmger then obviously.

It does do what what they originally claim, its a PTFE additive, originaly devoloped for light aircraft engines in the case off a sudden loss of oil, allows the engine to run with some protetion allowing the pilot to do a controlled emerguency landing rather than falling out of the sky with a siezed up engine.
Personaly if you do regualar oil changes, dont really see need for it these days with modern oil technoligy.

For gearbox and diff i recommend Molyslip and it really works. There are molyslip products for engine too, but i have never used them. If your engine runs fine just keep regular services and use good brand oils for it like Mobil, Castrol, Valvoline... never use Comma oils, if you think that Comma oil is good, then empty bottle of Comma engine oil and look inside, you will see many black particles in bottom of bottle :o I prefer Mobil Super S for my Omega.

VX 10/40 semi in an Omega engine - it really is a no brainer. ;)

:) OK, So i have kicked the Slick 50 out of the window. now this will cause a good debate. so what is the BEST oil I can get for my Miggy. I mean the best oil, no the most expensive, not that price matters when I am doing my Miggy, but the most expensive is not allways the best.

The engine was designed to run on VX's Semi 10/40..
So look no further.
Many other oils cause the engine to suffer more mayo in the filler neck than the VX does.

GM semi synth, on TC, as good as any for that application, and very, very cost effective

And then change it every 3000 - 5000 miles. :y
