Title: Radiator Differences
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 01 December 2011, 12:10:38
Aside of the built in gearbox cooler (depending on manual or auto) - please could someone tell me what the differences are between 2.0, 2.2, 3.0, and 3.2 Radiators?

Are the 4 pots / 2.5 and 3.0 / 2.6 and 3.2 Rads the same? If not, what are the differences?

I have to admit to never actually checking...

Cheers,
James

AFAIK, all cabled V6 Rads have the gearbox cooler inside, all DBW V6 Rads have a separate cooler so it's not needed (but most places will supply the earlier one for an auto ::))

Not sure on the 4 pots though

Just had a look, it appears the only addition to the V6 rad, from the 4 pots, is that the V6 one has an outlet/inlet at the nearside bottom / offside top, for the electric coolant pump.

As far as I know this doesn't really contribute anything, anyway, and can be ditched.

So it would appear a 4 pot rad can be used on a late V6 (given my cooler is external)
