Title: OK,Ive Cocked Up Somewhere, Any Ideas
Post by: Tankie1rtr on 01 December 2011, 21:30:13
 >:( Hi Guys.  Miggy. 2.2 Diesel

Can anybody give me any ideas, I wanted to put a hand prime (Rubber Ball Type) between my Fuel Filter and my Injector Pump. I have cut the Out Pipe (That goes from the Fuel Filter to the Injector Pump) and fitted the primer bulb, with direction of flow to the Pump, I have used a small jubilee clip over both ends fuel pipe and made sure they are tight. I have also put in a new fuel filter. I filled the filter bowl with Diesel Magic and re-assembled it. I had to use Cold Start to fire her up, and I left her runnning on a slightly fast tickover for 10 minutes, I let her stand idle for about 2 hrs then fired her up took her to the garage to have an Oil Flush and new Oil with Filter. She drove home fine. I left her for about 3 hours and went out to put her on he drive, she just turned over and wouldnt fire, I had to use Cold Start down the Air Vent to fire her up again, once running she is like a dream, I took her for a blast along the Motorway and she breezed along at 90mph, home and she ticked over fine. I left her for two hours and went out to put her on the drive, and she wouldnt start again. has anybody any ideas what I could try, or look for. I have had her for 3.5yrs and never had any trouble until today, it must be something I have done or cocked up in some way..
Chaeers.

Leak off pipes?

Try parking with the nose facing downhill and see if that improves matters and therefore proves the above!

Also. I do not know if it will have any bearing but, when she was ticking over at about 600, I gentley press the accelerator and she seem to hesitate for a brief second then jumps up from 600 on the rev counter then climbs normaly, I let the gas off, then apply gas again and it does exactly the same thing, seems to stick for a micro second then suddenly raise in revs..  (If that makes Sense)
Cheers

Try 'repairing' the fuel pipe you've split into with a section of plastic tubing & a couple of Jubilee clips and see if that fixes your problem. Not sure exactly what your pump looks like or exactly where you've fitted it.  :-\

i'm geussing the pressure aint right, but i know nothing!, and by spraying a bit of etha down there with a lower combustion point it's starting and then all evens out, food for thought?

Sounds feasible  :-\ :-\

foundf this the hard way doing a veg conversion. the plastic pipes get crushed using standard jubilee clips which in turn let in air/drain back. best to use plastic pipe inserts made of brass(available from comercial parts suppliers) and a fuel line clip of sutable diameter.

Sounds feasible, though I'd shy away from using that aero-start stuff.
