Title: Home remedies & cures
Post by: waspy on 15 March 2008, 21:36:09
Do you know any home remedies & the like?
I know that Dandy Lions are a cure for warts & a clove garlic placed in the mouth is good for sore throats.
Any old wives tales that actually work :question

I thought so, but I am not particularly well travelled in the UK.
I have only been north of Winchester once in my life  ;D.

We have a remedy for Crupe in youngsters

Take a swede, cut the top off it and keep this as it will be used again.
scallop out the innards like you would a pumpkin (don't cut the holes for a face)
fill the innards with BROWN sugar, pack it really tightly, put the top back on and leave it on a saucer overnight.

Next day you will have a caramel goo in the centre, serve one small spoonful. because it is mildly sweet they will go for it, within a day or so the Crope will go.

Have tired this a number of times with my own and friends/families kids, always works

If coming down with a cold forget Lem-sip and the like. Whisky in hot water with a spoon of sugar, wrap up and sweat it out. Always works :y
