What car, as the weight is important? A small car can go on a Transit, and isn't subject to tacho regs. Anything else can't, and therefore  is. Which means a 500 mile roundtrip isn't viable.
We charge £1.20 a mile for the whole trip, plus callout so you'd be looking at a big bill!

You might want to consider renting a trailer, and towing it with your van, as that would be MUCH cheaper.

I'm sure it would be cheaper to fit a tow-bar and hire a trailer!

A small car can go on a Transit, and isn't subject to tacho regs. Anything else can't, and therefore  is.

What would you class as a small car?
I can carry a Vectra on the back of our Transit sized van and still only weigh 3300 k.g.'s

Also we now have the correct insurance cover to enable transportation of third party vehicles.

thanks for all the advice looking into them all .got adds on some of the transport sites. last time i did some quotes did come ion at around the £180 mark.

when you add up fuel train fare back time off work not too bad

trailer sounds a good idea but round trip in van would be at least 120 in fuel towbar another 120 and then trailer hire

plus with the gearbox is actully making a tapping noise now dont know what damage it could do driving that distance

if only i had accepted that job offer up ta north like :y :y

Think the limit would be 3.5ton so you'd be pushing it... I await correction though.
