What car, as the weight is important? A small car can go on a Transit, and isn't subject to tacho regs. Anything else can't, and therefore is. Which means a 500 mile roundtrip isn't viable.
We charge £1.20 a mile for the whole trip, plus callout so you'd be looking at a big bill!
You might want to consider renting a trailer, and towing it with your van, as that would be MUCH cheaper.
-
its an omega 2.6 estate... alas no towbar on the van :y
-
last time i rang for transporter only 90mile was nearly £900 and that was the cheap one. so good luck
-
I'm sure it would be cheaper to fit a tow-bar and hire a trailer!
-
Remove the prop shaft and use an A frame :y
-
Just did a quick search and sure your cheapest way would be to hire a trailer..found some prices below.
Sure a vehicle with a tow bar big enough or maybe as suggested, fitting a tow on your van and then taking it there yourself. :y

What the hell did you want transported?
We wouldn't charge that for a 40tonne artic!
-
As mentionned in your other post, I am driving up there over Christmas :y

What would you class as a small car?
I can carry a Vectra on the back of our Transit sized van and still only weigh 3300 k.g.'s
(http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo273/brikheadphoto/General%20stuff/RT1.jpg)
Also we now have the correct insurance cover to enable transportation of third party vehicles.
-
thanks for all the advice looking into them all .got adds on some of the transport sites. last time i did some quotes did come ion at around the £180 mark.
when you add up fuel train fare back time off work not too bad
trailer sounds a good idea but round trip in van would be at least 120 in fuel towbar another 120 and then trailer hire
plus with the gearbox is actully making a tapping noise now dont know what damage it could do driving that distance
if only i had accepted that job offer up ta north like :y :y

how about a miggy estate :y :y
-
Think the limit would be 3.5ton so you'd be pushing it... I await correction though.
-
I had our Mig estate transported from the west to east on something like that, only 2 axles, Transit iirc, was back in 2007 and cost £1.00 per mile one way..... :) bought blind on ebay and been a belter of a car..... :y :y
-
just to update you cheapest quote was on shiply £166 plus £29 fee :y
