Title: Anyone willing to lend me...
Post by: Lazydocker on 03 December 2011, 12:48:59
... a locking wedge for a 1.6 16 valve Vauxhall engine? I think it's the same one for all the Vx 16 Valve engines (but I'll wait for someone to correct me!) so any of the 4 pot owners.

Obviously I'll pay the postage both ways ;)

Just a tentative enquiry at the moment because I'll probably end up buying one anyway (sure they're less than £10) but my mate has just bought the Astra I was making enquiries about earlier and it needs a full service and cam belt before it's put to much use ::)

TIA

A spare lump of wood and a maniac with an electric planer would sort you out  :D

 .......

I have one, but the postage would come to about the price of a new one, as dbug says, they're only around £5.  ;) ;) ;)

The Omega 2.0l one is 4.99 from most factors, thus not worthwhile, as it will cost the same in postage, and you get to keep :).

I should add, having only owned proper Omegas, I only own V6 and TD lock kits for Omegas (and obviously a K series one ;D)

After a little research it looks like the Omega one isn't right anyway ::)

Still, for £15 I'll just buy one ;) Thanks all :y :y

Mine is a Sealey VS1700 and & was bought to do her 1.6 16v 52 plate Astra G. It says it's suitable for all 'Eco-Tec' 16 valve engines 1.4 1.6 1.8 2.0 & 2.2

Doesn't make any other distinction  :-\ :-\

The wedge for the 1.6/1.4 and small blcok 1.8 is much wider than that used on the large block 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2 so cant see how one will fit all.

Having just looked at the Sealey catalogue, that part is a kit of 2 wedges :y

It was more directed at Mark  ;) ;) ;) If only he'd clicked the link he's have known that one lock wouldn't do both types of engine  :y :y
