Title: V6 thermostat seal to tube
Post by: tommycon on 04 December 2011, 19:21:37
hiya,
installed a 3L V6 and have noticed the tube that comes off the thermostat housing is very loose, is it just a case of renewing the O ring seal and bolting it to the head? if so wheres the best place to buy the seal?
many thanks

Yes.

There are 2 'O'rings on the end of the transfer tube. You might find that the tube is quite deeply pitted with corrosion when you get it off.

If you don't have a dealer nearby then andyc will be able to post you some 'O'rings.

The worst pitting seems to occur where the radiator top hose is clamped around the tube. If yours has been leaking past the O rings then I would expect some pitting there too.

IIRC the tube isn't expensive.

For info, these particular O rings are a standard metric O ring.
