On the 3.2, couple of weeks ago, I was getting code P0748. The code wouldn't clear, if you cleared it with diagnostic kit, it would come back at the first gearchange or two - and was relating to the pressure control solenoid being open circuit.
I sourced a solenoid, and all was well in the world again.
I have done around 600 miles since then without missing a beat.
Today, I cogged it, on a dual carriageway - it changed down with a good "thud" and went into limp mode.
Code logged : P0730 - Incorrect Gear Ratio.
As far as I recall, this is usually as a result of TC slip? Can anyone confirm?
Going back even further, some will recall I've always claimed a noticable, but not significant, loss of power on this car. The last few days, it's appeared considerably more 'punchy' off the mark.
I cleared the above code, have done a further 15 miles, (including shutting down a 307 which wanted to be glued to my bumper) and no return of code.
About that manual conversion.... ;D

(Maybe it's payback for Jinxing BlackVipers MOT) ;D
-
I often had P0730's on my old blue car, which was always battling its gearbox.
Once I removed it, it was an AR25 not 35, which on a chipped, ported car, was never gonna be pretty.
It never actually died, but was never actually healthy either.
Doesnt really help, but suppose im suggesting the box is struggling to cope with the power? maybe brake band wants adjusting or something? or its just had a hard life and new box is your best bet.
iirc Mark never found anything untoward when he stripped down my old box.

bloody autos, wish my 3.2 was a manual!
-
Its a project - convert it. ;)
-
Maybe its not the solenoid, but electrical fault to it?
Is it worth checking inside the plugs behind battery for corrossion or bad connection? They are known to be related to that code.

time is the issue & funds, although I have nice little fund which would do it, thats earmarked for other things!

There speaks a man who now has a Mrs. ::) ;D ;D
-
Incorrect ratio is caused when input speed * gear ratio <> output speed, thus 'slip' somewhere in box. ATF level is first check to make.

Sadly, the 3.2 gearbox ECU isn't a patch on the 3.0 gearbox ECU, so to an extent, understand your frustration. Use of Sport mode is more essential on 3.2, less so on 3.0.
But the Omega manual box is just so horrible....

I've yet to use Sport mode ;D ;D ;D

You'll find you shout less at the gearbox on a DBW if its in sport ;D

Presumably its not just a matter of swapping them over ?

Reckon I'd be tolerating it if it was? ;D
Sadly not.

Indeed, thats how progress is made :y

When you get to my age young man you will learn that if progress is ever made it is made very very slowly.
Learn one new thing, forget two of the things you already knew. ::) ;D ;D

Cheers for the replies gents.
Chris, I have checked the connections in detail mate :y
TB, ATF was checked on Saturday just gone :) just as a matter of course, after ATF change a couple of weeks ago

different box, different car. had codes on a focus auto (soleniods) took the sump off to find enough filings to finish off desperate dans beard in full.
