The fluid is DEXRON IV (Fuchs Titan 4000 from Opie oils is the usual recommendation).

As to the capacity, total capacity is about 9 litres but if you change the fluid you will only get about 6 or 7 litres out, and therefore will only need 7 litres (to be safe) to refill.

Is it DEXRON IV? I have been told that I can use DEXTRON III and I did that. I used vacuum oil extractor to get fluid out, and it took only 4.5L. I had no time to change gaskets and filter so did quick fluid change. Latter I am thinking to do it properly  ;D So it would be great to know that fluid I should use. Anyway, fluid change and gearbox ECU update did a miracle to my Omega  :o

DEXRON IV is the correct fluid, and I'm guessing you only drained the rear sump, hence less fluid was required.

I also take off the fluid cooler pipes and blow that through to remove any old fluid.

The recommendation for this type of box in older applications was Dex III, I believe, so I doubt it will do any harm.

....

I only manage to get a gallon in my autobox when I did an ATF change, & I removed both sumps.  ;)
