Title: When's the last time yo had a bulb go ?
Post by: Ken T on 07 December 2011, 23:02:25
On the way home tonight I saw 2 modern cars with blown bulbs. A 10 peugot "box" with 3 sections of his high brake light gone, and a 58 Audi A3 with the O/S tail light section on the boot gone. So their bulbs only last 2 years. I didn't have to change any bulbs on my previous Mig which makes them at least 4 years old.

I hope you have some spare bulbs Ken. A statement like that is bound to make a couple of yours pop in the next day or so.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I`ve noticed quite a few very-young/modern cars with only one eye, lately........clearly, 'quality' corners are being cut!  ;)

Not had to change one since i had the car last September. I saw a 60 place Renault Megane with a headlight bulb out a few weeks ago. Doesn't make sense unless it was mega high mileage and only used at night ;D

I can't remember when one of mine last went. Thing is, nobody bothers to change them until they are pulled up at an MOT these days, >:(

If you've got a Renault ,you've got to strip half the car down to change a bulb, of course. Good job they are only made of tupperware. ;D

Just this week my Daughter had both dipped beams go together on her '53' Peugeot 206.  ::) ::)  I thought it was something more sinister until I googled it and apparrantly it is quite common for both to go at the same time on some models of Peugeot.  :-\  Two new bulbs and it was sorted.

On the plus side, as her full beam is so shite she was able to travel home on full without getting flashed by oncoming drivers.  ::)

I take it you don't live around Lincoln area, driving with one headlight out seems to be a regional requirement here.  I see, probably a minimum of 5-6 cars one the way to work (20 miles) and the same again on the way home, every day.

Either that or driving in the dark on sidelights with front fogs on, that seems to be becoming more and more popular.

I think it's some sort of secret signal that the driver is up for a bit of cottaging myself, that along with driving with your front fog lights on when it's not even dark let alone foggy. ::)

 ;)

That`s clearly the reason so many recent-model headlamps have failed and not been replaced. :(

and when its foggy, they don't bother with lights at all.  :-\ :-\

Not had to replace any bulbs for failure for probably 10 years.

I have had to change indicator bulbs due to the colour coming off though.

Moreso that people don't bother checking - and only realise when both of them have gone and they think it's something seriously wrong...

I seem to do quite a lot of those as well, bulbs last well enough but the coating is shite :(

Get some "silver" ones - the coating doesn't fade, and even my cheapy Ebay ones have lasted well.

Rover popped a dipped beam a couple of years back, and always pops bulbs in high level brake light.

My Omegas seem to kill numberplate bulbs, and once in a bulb moon one of the others.

Having had to change all 4 on my brothers focus and a workmates audi TT this week in the dark my hands are shredded to bits, is there any need for the pathetic wire arrangement surrounded by razor sharp edges when spending 35 grand on a car >:(

as said most cars now need to go into a garage to have a new headlight bulb,
on my old mgzs (rover 45) the battery had to come out to do one side,
