still humming and hoeing about this saab 9-5.(straight choice now between this and a volvo v70 d5) does anyone know whats the top of the range and whats the bottom with saabs?
this one is the vector 3.0l tid.
im sure the aero is the top spec?...but cant seem to find any info on the rest of the range, although the spec on this vector seems very good.

I like the 9-5's,only thing I would be worried about now is parts availability now that Saab GB is in administration.

As far as I know, 9-5 and Vectra share platform, so a few parts are exchangeble.... For 3.0 diesel (Isuzu engine) I've heard it's a bit too rough ang noisy for a Saab. There were some issues with this engine - cracked head and similar after reaching 100.000 miles. I'll try to find something about it because 9-5 was a car I was looking for some four years ago.

The 2.3 turbo petrol engines are as hard as nails,seem to cover big milage without much issue

I was interested to read this topic. I have owned a 9-5 aero, it was in some ways the nicest car i have owned. Very fast, and i mean quick. But its front wheel drive so you will wear through front tyres very quickly, even being careful with your right foot. The best seats around, so comfy! Downside can be fuel consumption as they are no better than a miggy for mpg.
Insurance will be high too on most models, and their isthe issue of parts for some things.

owner of turbo engine, petrol or diesel, sooner or later face with expensive bills.. you must be lucky enough to use and sell the car before any expensive problem arises ..

Hot Aero is top spec followed by Aero then Vector and Linear.
Saab prices were poor to start with, nowadays they seem to be nosediving with the company going into administration. I looked at a Hot Aero 2.0T fully loaded, single owner, 56 plate with 25k miles for just 4.5k. Hope you are getting it really cheap and do stay away from dealerships as they are quite expensive. I did not buy in the end as I felt I was going to get stuck with a Rover equivalent that would be worth nothing in a couple of years time.

i just bought a 9-5 aero hot estate yesterday,as mentioned it has a thirst but possibly the most comfortable seats i have ever sat in. :D

and i still think the most comfortable 'armchairs' were in the granada's leather of course ;)

I had a saab 9-5 with all the bells and whistles and it was a very luxurious car. I had the se which had the leathers but no heated seats booo. The HOT is the high output turbo but I had the lpt low pressure turbo. Didn't feel particularly fast with only 150bhp but great lazy cruiser at high speed. The HOT is the one to go for if you want power.

i had a 9-5 areo estate manual very fast espically on the go but front wheel drive always suffered from getting the power down from standing ,insurance was a pain as demanded the fitting of a tracker but excellent cars very comfy never driven the 3.0 diesel always fancied it
had a vectra estate 1.9 sri 150 diesel 6 seed auto very nice motor huge boot very economical average 45-50 mpg and quite quick also like omega lots of rear leg room if i had the money its the motor i would have again not sure if you would get one for £3k yet
£ for £ if your not concerned about mpg dont think you can beet an omega imo theres been some very nice ones on ebay latley all below £2k
