Anyone know of a link for 3l 24v GSI straight 6 swap to rid myself of the V6 lump.

Why on earth would you want to do that, unless its the Lotus Carlton engine :)

was wondering that myself tbh.

the straight 6 is alot easier to turbo/supercharge and IIRC isnt it also a bit stronger than the V variety?

Then it would be a 3.6l ;)

Omegatoy would presumably be the bloke to ask,as afaik hes the only person to have done it on a diy basis.
Very good idea imo, btw. A much better engine in all respects, apart from weight presumably. ;)

If that were true it would be offset by the supply of parts being more difficult. LC engines are starting to throw up a few serious snags these days (cracked blocks, etc) so whilst they might hold together a bit longer than a V6, when they do let go, finding a replacement will be tough.
Packaging of a turbo install would be easier, granted. That doesn't make the whole job easy, IMHO. :-\
I would imagine forged pistons and the like would be rocking horse poo.

Idea is to put in normal 24v, way more economic, easier to work on and gives away sod all in hp, should have been in the car in the first place IMO

And all of those things are negated by the amount of buggering about to get the job done. If you want a car with the straight six, surely you would be better off just buying a nice Senator?
I've no objection to engine swaps, but the hassle of doing them - particularly on modern cars - has got to be outweighed by the benefits.

Cause the V6's are crap engines, S6 far better engine to work on, no cam cover gaskets, no faffing about with cambelts!
I actually still prefer my old 2.2!
-
Or Carlton, I know, but the fact you have to give these away doesn't help matters and they are too good a car for that!
-
mmm found my carlton 2.3 dti a very good bomb proof engine. i think that conversion has been done on an omega.
-
Absolutely - if you were going to transplant another engine, I certainly wouldn't start with a larger/older engine which only produces the same horsepower. Seems like a load of hassle for no gain.

Lot of effort for zero gain, and you bugger up the handling for nothing :-\
If you want to do an engine transplant, there are perfectly good V8's that (just!) fit...
