Title: we buy any car...
Post by: cam2502 on 17 December 2011, 12:28:03
has anyone any experience of this or any similar company? heard a few stories that they start chipping away at the price you get quoted online once their "experts" start looking the car over so you get a lot less than you thought you were gonna.
just mulling over my options for selling my bmw.

i tried them last resort i would say they really con you, good on line valuation etc i took my vectra estate there few years ago not brilliant on line valuation but little above trade car was in shroom condition etc (ex demo ) etc the guy spent ages trying to find something but couldnt he had a go though to the poiont i had to walk away from him and tell him to stop being silly. finally as we sat at his desk he went through the details i had submitted on lne and said oh yes sat nav he knew full well it did not have it as it comes up when you do a check on ther car and i certainley never put it down as having it so he said oh that will take off about £750 from valuation lol well i wasnt laughing in fact got up told him wht ever you do do not follow me and  got in my van alas leaving wifey to get all the paper work etc

heard lots of similar stories apparently so i have read salesmen work on commission the more they knock off your car the more they get >:(

Surprisingly had a very good experience with them. Was selling my ford Focus ST. Had lots of test drivers turn up but no one willing to commit or buy. The car was immaculate and well looked after. After quite a few spotty faced teens turned up wanting a test drive without any insurance I got bored and tried a few of the so called sites. Used WBAC in the end as they had a good price. Well above trade/Glass. Booked an appt with them, turned up, had the guy go over my car, said that my car was the best he had seen in the last month or so. Got offered the full price promised. Asked me if I wanted next day payment which would be 24.99 extra, I said no thanks and 5 days later got paid . No hassle at all. You have to be realistic. On a low value car your chance of getting a good deal is poor. If you have dents, scrapes, rips in fabric then expect you quote to be pulled down as they dont have time to sort these things out. Lastly dont expect the price you will get with a private sale as they are a buisness looking to make a profit.

Yes, it was a good result. 59 plate fully specced car. 35k miles. Glass/CAP was 11k. Trade in offers were 11.5 - 12k. Advertised for as low as 12.5k privately in various avenues and no sale after 2 months. WBAC bought it for 12.3k. Couldnt ask for a better hassle free deal at that point of time.

like the adverts though

The music track is at 140 beats per minute; supposed to be a rhythmic 'sweet spot' in the receptive brain......a fact that didn`t escape Stock, Aitken and Waterman. ;)

Take the offer, that is about £100 pounds more than it is worth........High miles and rust, what do you expect, sorry but that is the way of the world.......

AIUI, they offer the best money on things they can retail through car supermarkets - middle of the road diesels, people carriers, etc - and anything seen as odd or undesirable by Mr and Mrs Low-Credit-Score (must be posh, it's triple-barreled) is given a low value.

As said it was just out of curiosity.  I've no intention of selling!  ;) Anyway if I did want to get rid, I'd get more than that for scrap!!  :y

They would probably scrap it as well and the difference would be their margin. Fair enough I think. A very high mileage miggy with rust probably wouldn't attract much interest at an auction.

Mines done 22k miles, 03 reg and 1 prev owner. I just entered my details & got offered £1100. Interestingly I got a part ex value for the same car off a few dealers when were looking to swap for a congestion charge free new car and was offered £1200 tops on the full price of the new car. Yes I will get more if I sell privately but not a bad price for a hassle free sale and matches the best part ex I was offered. I could sell it to them and haggle better on the price of the new car.
