About a year ago I managed to find a cloth interior for a MFL Elite, so purchased it with a view to fitting in my Elite and taking the leather out.
However, before I did the swap I had to mend the seat heaters. This is quite a fiddly process and involved stripping the seat down. Very very time consuming. While I was in there I fitted a heater pad also and had the connector accessible "just in case".
So, today the seat stopped working - as I knew it would eventually. So, off with the seat back, swapped connectors and all was toasty again. :y :y
Dont you just love it when a plan comes together.

Aye - Elite cloth does seem to eat heaters for some reason.
Leather is more problematic to replace, so you end up repairing instead. No more difficult than cloth to strip. Bit of a ballache, but do-able....

wish mine would hurry up and break.... ;D..since the pink one fitted the mv6 leather in my mv6 i can't turn the drivers heated off and its toasting my balls..lol

Ooh. Curry oppertunity...
There is already a guide i believe. Could add a few tips, like getting the lumbar support knob off. Think it will help to slip the wire off the top of the lumbar support itself first.
And add there is a loom with button available for face lift, with switch, to enable battery connection with seat out if the car for testing. Thanks to Lincs Robert above (i think he was ok to make it available too oof members...?) certsinly makes life easier for us less electrickary minded. :y

That could do with a mod to make it work easier with a ammeter, I'll have a gander for some suitable clips...

on the list of to do,my drivers is us all the others work fine must investigate but so much else that i want to get done .

But of course. I've also got one for a MFL but that's a lot easier of course as its just a case of putting a suitably meaty source of 12 volts onto the right pins.
BTW & IIRC, a seat seems to take about 5 amps. I have used either a spare battery or a battery charger to supply that.q
Also, a word of warning if looking to fix PFL seats. You need to be careful of the seat-belt tensioners as they are mechanically fired - so just be careful when handling the seat. There should be small red retainers hanging from the mechanism - which can be inserted to stop them being activated when out of the vehicle. :y

I've unpicked many an early recaro to retro-fit heated seats, but I really don't like the look of these modern fangled ones! ;)
Also are heated cloth MV6 rears very common? I've heard people talk of elites getting them, but did the MV6's ever see these?

Nope, nope
When I had my '98 MV6 back in 2001 I fitted heaters in the rear cloth seats. Although heated cloth rear (non-Elite) wasn't available in the UK, it was available as a marketing option for some countries - Norway, Finland etc.
So, I got the parts and fitted them myself and they worked very well indeed. The car was sold in 2003 so I suspect that it's still out there somewhere together with the Bose/Rear Blind and Carin that I fitted at the same time.

The issue is one of time to be honest. Its very time consuming and takes up a lot of space at this time of year. A simple repair can take a few hours and although it's ok doing it for yourself it's always difficult to know what to offer/seek in return for doing it for someone else. Another aspect is that if you do find a break in the element and fix it then it's possible that the problem will return as a hotspot will simply move somewhere else and then cause that to fail some time later - or even sooner.
