Title: engine not responding while rpm`s falling to idle
Post by: burekbuster on 20 December 2011, 11:18:52
Hello to everybody!

I recently bought a 99 opel omega 2,5td (x25dt) that in general runs smoothly but with a little annoying fault. When driving and for instance shifting from 1st to 2nd gear at 2000-2500rpm the engine cuts fuel to to the injectors for about 3 sec at the same time the throttle pedal is not responding and the ECU light comes on, for 3 sec or till rpm`s fall down to idle (600-700rpm). The only trouble code that comes on is 64 ( fuel quantity adjustment control). On the other hand when i drive more robustly ( from 3000rpm+) i dont have any problems at all. just that gap between idle and 2500 rpm.

I have checked for leaks, there were none, I have tried a STP fuel line and nozzle cleanner, it maybe helped a little bit but only with engine performance.

the mechanic says thath the injection pump should be replaced/serviced, what do you suggest?

with many thanks! i wish you pleasant holidays

365000km
the engine works great, when hot or cold it starts up instantly.

today Ive taken the fuel filter housing apart and cleaned it, also cleaned ( blew air) trough the fuel lines. but with no success

regards

The car has a lot of miles on the clock

If you say the car starts up from cold with no problems, the car must have good compressions

possible injector and fuel pump wear

Might have a air lock in the fuel system that needs bleeding out

Its a difficult one with so many miles on the clock

is it possible that the electric fuel pump in the fuel tank isnt working properly, but the car accelarates great. I dont know.

is it complicated to replace the fuel quantity regulator by my self?
