Title: charging battery
Post by: tuckshop on 20 December 2011, 13:59:11
hi guys, been a while since I posted here...............

I like to lurk and visit now and again but for a while now not had any probs with the car so had nothing to say and as for offering advice, well this forum has much better sources than me....  ;D

the car is a four door omega facelift year 2000 on a V plate, 2.5 auto CDX spec.

here's the question....

the car is being used for short journeys and the battery seems nearly flat so if I remove the battery to charge it up will I still be able to open the door(S) and boot? ----- to replace the battery afterwards or if I need to get something out of the car?

you should be able to open the drivers door with the key, maybe worth checking first. There is a pull handle to open the boot which you can get to with the rear passengers side seat folded forward. Don't forget the power sounder alarm will go off if you don't follow the proceedure  of slackening the battery terminals, key in ignition and turn to ignition lights on, then off and disconnect within 30secs 'ish.

the drivers door should open manually with out the battery as long as the mechanism is in good order
best way to check is
disconect battery and try it
leave the passenger door open as a precaution just in case it doesnt
