Title: Door lock problems.
Post by: Jusme on 21 December 2011, 20:40:05
That'll teach me to add to another thread.. :(
As I put in the other thread, I don't know if this is the 'old drivers door lock problem', but here goes.
First the front passenger door pleased itself whether it would lock/unlock, but could always pull up the lock button manually to unlock. Then the drivers door started doing exactly the same, but now, the passenger door is constantly locked and try as I might I cannot pull up the lock knob. The drivers door has to be opened manually from the rear passenger door, by reaching through and lifting the lock knob, although it does lock on the key fob. Can't unlock drivers door by using the key in the door lock, as the key goes in but, will not turn in either direction. Need to sort this rapid as wife can't walk, legs won't bend, and can't get her into the back of the car. Just praying the drivers door doesn't lock solid like the passengers.. Thanks in anticipation... ;)

Hi jusme, iirc the advice remains the same as last time. Lube the lock mechanism before the relevant motor fails. Which the front passenger one now has failed by the sound of it.

So, new motor and free lock mechanism on pas front door.

Lube mechanism on drivers door quick before that motor fails as well.

Slow or lazy door pin, lube the lock.

Dead door pin, with no sign if life at all, failed motor! Usually because the lock mechanism is stiff and its burnt the motor out.

At least thats my experience, esp with this particular car.
