Title: Coil Pack Vibration!
Post by: tunnie on 28 December 2011, 10:44:37
Came home for Christmas to Father T saying his 2.2 had a unusually large amount of vibration at idle, in D. Pop it in N, vibration less so.

Not talking anything major, just slight vibration through the foot brake & steering wheel. Was thinking engine mounts, but having been getting codes indicating a failing coil pack. Although it drives fine....

Decided to take the coil pack out of my 2.2, as its only a couple of years old. One in FatherT's is original at 12 years and 124k!

Vibration gone! Guess the coil pack was struggling or not being as smooth as it could be. Quick oil change too, and fatherT is happy  :)

70 thou eh? That could explain why mine was running very lumpy on originals and 92k. Just changed cam cover gaskets and drained about a litre of cr4p from the plug area, and cleaning the coil pack I noticed it's got loads of hairline cracks on it. Ordered one from the super-dooper vauxhallworldparts.com at under 1/2-price tho', should be with me tomorrow. Suppose I should do both sides but there's a budget involved...
