Recorder doing what it does best, tomorrow's entertainment :)
-
I stuck it for a while but it'a all forced slapstick and faked 'comical happenings'. Dissapointing ! :(
-
recording as daughter is on the Wii
-
Could have been edited into a funny/ interesting 15 miutes. Same Christmas special, different background basically. ::)
-
>:( never watch it cant stand that foul mouth so i don t mind missing it :y :y :y :y
-
Another hour of my life wasted. ::)
-
that was awful,
wasnt even funny!!! probably the worst top gear special ever!!!
-
not worth watching then ???

+1, and Clarkson is my hero :(

couldnt agree more.....
-
twas a tad scripted and you knew what was coming but still brought a giggle
-
Not the best tbh. But theres always time for top gear. :)
-
Arse biscuits, missed it. Will watch it on iPlayer later.
-
It is scripted. And it has effectively become a soap.
And so what! I know people who watch Eastenders.... without being forced. WTF!!!!!
Also, just in case there's any confusion: JC is a national treasure.
-
have to agree it was a bit samey. but still worth watching. when does the new series start?
-
:'( :'( it was the worst one they have done ??? ??? ??? ???
-
Predictable, of course, but even a rather poor episode such as this, still a million times better than the usual dross the BBC think we like to watch. Every time I turn the telly on, its bloody Knobenders, and I don't know a single soul who watches that.

what you mean is that
you dont know anyone that will admit to watching it!

No, I mean I don't know anyone stupid enough to waste time on such dross...

She hates it more than I do. Thankfully :D

The special was just a load of shite, totally disapointed. :( Time to get some new blood into top gear before it dies a total death
-
We all watch it because of the presenters though, we just need to see more genuine fun rather than the scripted, slapstick crap that they're doing at the moment :-\
-
Not the best, but still best thing on TV. New presenters will do nothing, Top Gear shows the same style but with crappy presenters, its shite.
Clarkson, May, Hammond offsetting each other make TG

That's interesting cos I don't think the viewing figures suggest it's dying.
I personally think if they changed the lineup it would be worse. and if JC left, we're left with the next senior member richard hammond running it... who, without JC, would be rubbish.

Sack the producer then and make those 3 do some work, its all too much like they cant be botherd to do anything else, it will just get canned if they dont sort it out. last series was a pile of crap too!
There was something on the website that made me larf, the top read reviews or something " Why, in a year when we've driven the Ferrari 458 Spider and Mercedes SLS roadster and Range Rover Evoque, did you prefer to read a road test on the new Chrysler 300C?" and from that you couldnt work out what cars to feature more on shows?
I miss the proper challanges when they had to cut up or build silly things (not just stick some far too big tyres on) race across deserts (not poddle around india at 40mph and get a train most the way) you can put up with the slapstick if theres enough real stuff to go with it.
the viewing figures just show everyone sky+'d it, not if anyone actualy enjoyed watching it ;)

Viewing figures don't include people who Sky+'d ;)

why do they not?
Heres another example then, on the 5 car forums i regularly use all had a "top gear xmas spec" thread, and like this one 90% who watched this years thought it was pants.

Do you think Sky customers would like us to record the fact they Sky+ naughty stuff at 2AM?
Also very, very few Sky boxes are actually plugged into a phone line, data cannot be recorded on who watches what, no way to transmit the data back..... even if we were allowed to.
Viewing figures are provided by The Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB) - Which do not take into account PVR boxes ;)

How many people actually make threads to say something was good? or average? Not that many :)
-
LOL mine isnt plugged into the wall either.
Surely you need to have the naughty channels if you want to record naughty stuff anyway :y
I personaly think tv has been pants allround over christmas, no really good films on or even many of the classics.
I guess being stuck in ill for the last week has made me a proper grinch pmsl

They don't need to be, they say they have to just so we can keep track of certain things. If for instance you pay for fight matches it would need to be plugged in more often.
Top Gear is running out of ideas, but its still a giggle. Last years special was a lot better!
-
Viewing figures are ratio'd from under 300 monitored households - hence the inaccurate figures regarding the likes of Knobenders, which nobody watches.

Just shows different tastes I think.
I found it very amusing when they linked May's horn up to his brake lights hahaha
I do agree though that there should be more cheap car challenges. Not because the viewers want actual practical consumer reviews cars but it just means more laughing at the state of the cars and how bad they can treat them

Program was half over when I switched on, after 10 minutes found it so predictable and boring, switched to other channels, nothing on, so back to Planet Rock on radio channel. :y

Very wrong there Tunnie.
Sky gave us £50iirc? of amazon vouchers a few years ago to agree be monitored.
The sky+ box phones sky daily at 4am to upload what weve watched
viewer panel or sommat.
Some people may hate the idea, but couldnt bother me less, I have no problem with anyone knowing what I watch....it just might possibly benefit me in the long run.
(about to cancel sky anyway, but thats another story)

Indeed, the 'free' sky digibox offers were all based around it being plugged into the phoneline so it could call home with viewing stats.
-
They dont do it by default granted....
but they can...
details here : http://www.skyviewerpanel.com/

Yep, when I first joined, it was in the contract that got you a free set top box, that it had to be connected for a year and that you agreed to them collecting viewing statistics.
Wouldn't surprise me if Murdoch was using them to hack phones, TBH. ::)
Not saying there aren't other independent bodies doing audience research the old fashioned way but if you have a Sky box connected to a phone line or the internet you'd be a mug to believe that they don't use that connection for whatever they like, IMHO.

I meant if they were not plugged into a phone line....
They have to be for things like Pay for Fights as when you book things need to be checked on your box :)
