Hi,
I am after spraying an omega with 2 pack paint
I sprayed my car at the weekend. I used the 1:2 ratio when mixing the hardner in.
The car is three days sprayed and the paint is still soft. Anyone know why this is.?
cheers

I believe that there is a minimum temp for spraying around 50 degrees. Were you able to comply?:y
-
I had the car In a proper spray booth with heat capable of 50 degrees C easily. I left the car in the heat for 3 hours solid after spraying

Need an expert opinion then, not me. ;D ;D ;D :y

The first thing to do is speak to the paint supplier. You did use materials from the same manufacturer? And it was hardener you used, and not just thinners, as they're not the same. Although you normally need to use both to get a sprayable mixture.

Yes I have talked to the paint supplier he is calling to see it next week but I sort of want to know for my self. I used the hardener he gave me and I used the Thinners he gave me. I also used the thinners he gave me.

With two pack the ratio is 2:1 with the hardener and then the thinners. 2 litres of paint should make around 6 litres of sprayable liquid. Minimum 50°c for spraying along with at least a couple of hours bake to follow each coat.

Ok thats odd cause my hardener said 1:2 on the tin :(. Will it harden over time ??

As long as it's 1part hardener and 2 parts paint then it's correct. It would say 1:2 on the hardener and 2:1 on the paint tin.

Out of interest where did you do the spraying? I am looking at doing some spray work on mine but I am buggered if I can find a spray booth I can hire.

I don't think the booth that Crossy used would be suitable somehow G. ;)

We have our own booth as we spray agricultural paint everyday of the week
