Title: 1999 mini facelift 3l elite power steering problem
Post by: elitedave on 06 January 2012, 21:42:47
hi all got a 1999 elite that had intermitaint power steering for a week.

the abs ecu has been changed about a year ago. this time no tc  light or speedo probs with  it.
had it it on a code reader at freindly garage giving a servotronic fault but scan gave very littel help other  than jus test  say there was a servotronic fail on test.

no shaw about pump as reving did not help when it was intermitaint. theres no leaks.

it did start after  some welding was done under driver wheel arch buy brake lines for mot. but was ok then for weeks to now

any one got any idear where to start with power stering

have checked all fuses as well

as im at a loss as its not tipical abs ecu symtoms of a tired pump and reving at idel did not help. power aint fully gone but it greatly redused

ps noticed while under drivers arch there apears to be a vacum tube thats not conected to anything that apears to lead back to the back of car and posibly self leveling suspention.

should it be conected or not and if so where lol.

Paper clip trick only reads the engine ECU, nothing else, so wouldn't help with a power steering problem .. :(

red barron yes just seen relay location in guides.

be well worth swaping out that first

does anyone know the part number as cars 50 miles from me at the moment
and i just looke on ebay and theres none listed as servotronic most listing are buy part number

and ill try that first before attacking pump or ecu again as i dont fancey do the the dam abc ecu again

as it started just after welding under driver arch by the brake lines is there any wireing there or sensors that could afect power steering.

thanks guys
