15mm socket on aux tensioner nut and turn clock wise to lossen belt  :y
to replace tensioner pulley undo nut and take off, then replace and do up again.

top left pulley is tensioner for aux. 15mm spanner, rotate clockwise to move it to slanken belt for removal

I can see the pulley/tensioner wheel , so is the nut adjuster located at the side ...looks like very awkward access ?

Its spring loaded, so no 'adjustment', as fully automatic. 15mm clockwise pushes against spring, allowing belt removal

yes, put your 15mm spanner on it & turn clockwise, as if you tightening it up, the pulley wheel will move to the right allowing you to remove the belt.

when fitting the new belt, put over the tensioner pulley 1st, then slide it over the waterpump pulley last as its smooth & it will slide over easier. :y

belt & tensioners need replacing then, change waterpump while you at it.
plenum comes off, yes.

Might as well while its all apart , i was thinking when the new rad comes tomorrow just to put it all back together but the cambelt condition would be on my mind ... will enquire how much a kit and pump is and sort it out  :y

Implication is thats a 4 pot one? No good to you.

As well as cambelt kit, you will need a cambelt locking/timing kit (tools), not possible without on this engine.

No.

Where in Northants are you, as I have one in Brackley you can borrow if you are nearby.

I would strongly recommend getting the OOF V6 cambelt DVD, from the OOF shop.  £3 well spent IMHO. Even if it does mean you have to look at Marks DTM Calib's legs ;D

A good friend of mine once advised me to avoid if it's not GM or don't say 'Gates' on it..

..although you can't argue with buying through GSF can you call them direct?

Maybe cheaper still??

I bought a kit from gsf last year
For some reason they had the wrong one listed
I only realised it once I had the car apart
Make sure you get the right one
Don't know if a member on here can help you with a pic of the larger tensioner so you can check

SKF, Gates or Contitech are all ok, and Gates and Contitech supply Vx.

On all of teh above, you wont find any difference between any of the plates and tensioners (I strongly suspect they are all made by the same people!)

Hi again all , question : would you advise replacing the aux belt tensioner or can it be serviced/lubed ect ? I know the pulley will need replaced but does the pulley and tensioner come in a kit or can i buy just the pully itself ...i replaced the pulley only from a scrapper on my last mig but not the tensioner . How does the tensioner come off ?  ???

If the pulley bearing feels dry (they all do by the time the 40k cam belt interval is up, if not before) but there isn't significant play in the bearing yet, you can prise the plastic dust covers off either side with a pin and pack the bearing with grease, then replace the covers.

If it's got play that isn't taken up by the grease, best to replace the pulley, but you can buy it without the sprung tensioner.

for the time it takes, undo the 15mm nut in the middle, take the pulley off(only the wheel) pop the red/brown plastic rings out & pack with grease. its realy so easy to do. :y

Oh i didnt realise there was plastic rings that were removable , but thats on the pulley wheel like you say . Is it possable to lubricate the actual tensioner or is that a sealed unit  :-\
