Greetings,
I was driving home tonight, just got to the road works section with the hard shoulder coned off :P , and the spanner light came on. I didn't notice if I was in limp mode as I was going down hill at 50mph. Within 30 secs or so she cut out and I had to coast to the next junction. I got onto the hard shoulder, and within 1 or 2 spins she restarted. I set off again, spanner light out, OK for a couple miles then cut out again, she restarted with 3 or 4 spins. Another 2 cut outs until home, however after 1hr rest she starts fine. I read the codes and got P0340 (8 ), P0340 (4), and P0335 (?). I was running on LPG at the time and didn't think to change to petrol. Any ideas ?, could it be the dreaded crank sensor ?.

The codes suggest so......and so do the symptoms!

Thanks, I was getting confused with the P0340. Looks like a trip to Jct 600 dealers tomorrow.

If the calibration was a long way out, causing a bad misfire, could that throw a spurious crank sensor? Personally doubt it, but odd to see both crank and cam sensor faults on V6 (it is a V6, isn't it?)
And if calibration, there would be a trim code...
(if its a 4 pot, both cam and crank sensor fubar)

She's been running on LPG OK, reasonable acceleration, a bit down at high speed we haven't got it mapped properly, ( duff laptop battery !) however a new battery arrived a couple of days ago so will try and match up LPG and petrol.
I managed to get a new sensor, JCT 600 didn't have any so I had to get one from Autovaux. In preparation for it failing soon, I will order one from Andy C.

more engines fail when there are road works, all the stopping and move a few feet then stopping again, herd other day there were 8 cars broken down on m62, within 15min's.

I fitted the new crank sensor, and set off this morning, and.......
After about an hour, same again, spanner first then she cut out. I managed to get onto the hard shoulder and she restarted fine, but felt a bit rough. I read codes at lunch time, same again, P0340, P0340 and P0335. And tonight, after about 1 hour, spanner light came on, and then a surge like fuel cut off and then re supplied, happened a few times. I changed over to petrol for a couple miles then back to LPG and she was fine for the last 30mins or so. This is wierd, I will try and remember to make sure I am on petrol 60mins after setting off, to see if its LPG related.
