Title: Drivers door problem
Post by: blackviper90210 on 12 January 2012, 19:45:44
Hi all,

My dad has rung and told me that his drivers door opens on it's own whilst he's driving ???

He gets in, shoulders the door and it's secure, drives off then after a short time, he hears a gentle click and the door opens onto the safety catch then seconds later opens fully.
He's tried locking the door whilst driving, but this makes no difference and it still opens on it's own accord.

Anyone know what may cause this please?

It's a 2000 facelift estate CDX.

TIA :y

Not got a answer but tht dont sound good. Does handle stick up or anything? Sounds more mechanical rather then central locking to me but im no expert.  :-\

The doors lock & unlock with either the remote or keys, fine. The handles all work as they should too.  I don't know how the locks work, but if it was a simple hooked arm that drops down onto a pin, if the hooked arm was too loose, could it "bounce" off the pin?

Hope that makes sense? ::)

Just a thought.

Doorcard off, look at the mech while lifting the outside handle, there`s an arm that drops down to release the door lock, when ext. handle is released, arm to revert to prior position, sounds like it`s not releasing fully. A good lubing should sort Dave
