Title: Some Assistance?
Post by: spurgindavid on 14 January 2012, 19:01:04
Okay so took car drifting today drove it there and back with no issues....

however, once the car is in a slide the revs die and thereful a major lack of power
this is baffling as previously, once the car was put into a slide the engine use to be really responsive and fly through the revs maintaining a quick and power drift...
it does sound like the car is misfiring, and there does seem to be a sluggish throttle response :(
there is also a major hissing noise coming from under the bonnet, could be a perished vacuum hose it sounds like its the other side of the glove box!

am really looking to get everything running spot on and therefor car be alot more powerful.
this is why i am looking for someone who knows alot about v6 engines to possibly come over for a few hours and get the car running correct. am willing to obviously slip you some cash etc

am located in Manningtree, Essex

many thanks
D

What codes are present?

Search on here for pedal trick in the maintenance guides and FAQ and you will see whats what.

Always a good place to start a diagnosis....   :y

Hissing sound could be indicating a leak in the multiram pipework.  Again, have a search for how to check if the multirams are working or not.   :y

How does it feel in normal driving? Sluggish, or not? Is the TC turning off properly?

I'm going to just ask the obvious... You did turn the TC off didn't you? ???

Not trying to be rude or funny but the symptoms match TC cutting in quite well ::)

Additionally, I wouldn't say I'm an expert but I'm more than happy to pass an eye over it (to point out any obvious problems) at a convenient time :y Although you will have to bear with me as the nature of my work means I may have to cancel at very short notice or drop everything and leave

Traction control was switched off, luckily there was another drifter with an omega who helped with getting it off, tried the button and then took out the fuse to totally eliminate any traction control, yeah that could be ideal to be honest - i shall pm you my phone number..

.............there is also a major hissing noise coming from under the bonnet, could be a perished vacuum hose it sounds like its the other side of the glove box!

Rear Vacuum Reservoir and associated pipes are close to Pollen Filter/glove box aren't they? As said, the hissing sounds vac related.  :-\

Yeah it sounds like a major air leak. but just cannot find it  :'(
are there any diagrams, or step by step guides to point out all the vac hoses and where there located, so we can then go through and make sure we check everyone?  ::)
