Post by: raywilb on 17 January 2012, 12:46:53
journeys in my tractor consist of a 110mls every two weeks and the rest a few short jouneys 2-3mls. been out to the car today & battery is flat. the battery has still 2yrs guarantee left & is a 88amp. am i doing enough miles to keep the batt fully charged. when up to scratch readings are ok. :-\ :y

I work on the general rule that 15-20 mins with a healthy system is sufficient :y

My 3.2 had a new battery in May and all is fine. Even though it stood for 8 weeks without being started it was on the button a week or so ago :y :y

If you dig out a digital multimeter and follow the guide below it should indicate if you have a problem. I suggest you fully charge your battery at least 30 minutes before you start the testing.

Take it back to where you bought it and they should test it! Had mine replaced last year by doing this

The short journeys, esp this time of year with the electrical load on, is probably nowhere near enough to put back in what the starting took out.
