Title: Temperature at the vents in a 2.5TD

Hi guys,

Bit of a geeky question but here goes. Can anyone with a 2.5TD engine measure the temperature at the air vents with the heater on full blast at the highest temperature setting when the air is directed into the main cabin of the car.

I am wondering if my car is not heating as well as others do but I need something to compare it to of course :) I know what my temperature is and I am wondering what yours might be.

Does anyone have a little temperature probe that they can carry with them next time to find out or am I the only one that does that :S

When I had my tractor, once up to temp, the heater clearly worked well.  Soz, never measured it (and rarely ran it on full chat when the engine was up to temp)

Sorry if I've misinterpreted what you're asking...

BUT

if you've measured the temp. coming out of the air vents shouldn't it match what's on the climate control panel? E.g. if you measure it and your temp. gauge says the heaters are blowing out 20oC and the panel is set at 28oC you know you have a problem.  :-\

Should be a fair amount hotter/colder (depending on if its heating/cooling.

Your radiators indoors aren't at the stat's 21C, are they ;)

Thanks guys,

With the heater set on high I get around 40 degrees Celsius at the center vents in this current ambient temperature of 1 degree.
It is warm but definately not hot. My sisters corsa maxs the probe out at over 70 and it is painful to hold your skin over the vent for more then a few seconds. I was just wondering what TDs are like as Ive never thought mine was great but I ave nothing to compare it to.

Hi ya,

Sorry my previous comment didn't help.

However, I can say that if I have my blowers on 'High' and on full blast, even in this cold I'll have to turn the temp down after 10 minutes because it's stupidly hot.

Mine's a petrol V6 but I would have thought the fuel choice wouldn't alter this but I'm sure someone will advise shortly  :y

Car 1999 MFL 2.5TD, OAT +5ºC, Selected cabin temp. HI. Engine temp gauge 95ºC. Climate Control set to face vents, my centre duct outlet temp. is 52ºC.

52 degrees huh. Interesting stuff. Thanks for that.

So your engine temperature on the gauge was 95 at the time. Ok I will try mine again when the engine is warm.
Incidentally where does your temperature gauge site at 70mph for example on the motorway at this time of year as I wonder if mine might be running too cold?
