Hi All
I have a Omega 2.6 v6 2002 and what i need advice on is the noisey tappets.
When the car is cold all is quiet but when the car is warm the tappets are very noisey.
I added lifter treatment and some tappet oil but not at the same time but sadly none of them have really worked..
Anyone know how much id be looking at to replace the tappets??
Do i have to get them at a main dealer as i cant seem to find anywhere else..
I await a answer if you can help..

Google Parts Connexions mate but they are quiet expensive for new ones.
To replace them the cams need to be removed.
Wynns lifter Treatment works as a rule, but if you have tried it :(

I have found in the past wynns oil treatment works great with noisey tappets.

What grade oil you using, as it's known fully synthetic does make it noisier? Might be better to try a oil change with vauxhalls 10/40w, which is good value on tc! :y

Oil strainer partially blocked ?,any oil pressure light issues when idling?

Using of lifter treatment is often not enough except if you used it properly. Fill up to warm engine and get it spinned at higher revs for ten some miles. :y
With regard to the said hydraulic lifters, I have heard people say that once the oil is in from first start up it is almost impossible that this gets flushed when doing an oil change due to the hydrostatic properties keeping it in place. If this is true then that oil is the original 'first fill' oil. This then degrades and causes varnish deposits on the lifters (inside) stopping them from doing there job correctly, in which case they would then act as solid lifters. Can somebody with the appropriate skills, a 'subject matter expert' so to speak clarify this.
Absolute confirmation or denial with proof would be good.
You see if it's true, then no amount of 'lifter treatment' would be doing any good as it would not be getting into the 'hydraulic' parts of the lifters, if you see what I mean.
Something to ponder on boxing day, rather than watching repeats of James Bond or Bedknobs and Broomsticks or whatever.

used it loads of times on all makes of motor,
never believed it could work until i spoke to an oil engineer ???
at the internal combustion engine centre of esso,
I kid you not,
this ishow he explained it to me and how to use it for best results,
the lifter treatment is although thicker gloopier stuff than normal engine oil,actualy engineered to be lighter/thinner than normal oil when its hot, this lightness allows it to get to the top of the engine and into the lifters(now im not using his technical term here for ease of explanation, so i used the word lighter!)
it starts to clean the working parts of the lifter allowing them to work properly again as well as taking up the slack where normal engine oil cannot, however it cn only work properly when added to an engine that is up to working temperature, and is then driven to high revs for a few miles, this allows it a chance of getting up there and starting to work,if its just added to the engine and forgotten about it may not be as effective, he also said that if an engine has been neglected on its oil changes it may not work properly,ditto with lifters that are worn through dirty oil, and will require repeated doses, we were shown some before and after video,s and charts/logs on engine effiecency and it did show a difference,the most impressive one was a rover v8 with slightly worn lobes on the cam, and very noisy lifters, its made more power and torque!!! I used it in my omega td when i first got it and it really did help the engine noise, albeit there was one lifter that was always noisy throughout the 6 years i had it :y
