Title: Ticking noise from cam cover area
Post by: Omega 37 on 23 January 2012, 16:01:08
Changed the cam covers as oil was in the plug wells the other week.
I have a ticking noise coming from that area  :( Not sure if it has started after the covers were changed  :(

If it goes away when car the gets warm then sounds like exhaust manifold gaskets.

Or could be something simple like the exhaust manifold heat shield tapping away on the manifold itself if a fixing has snapped / broken off.

Broken heat shield or cracked manifold can give the impression of the cam followers chatting away.

Check manifold in case it,s cracked, or like what i have and that is a stud missing from the manifold its self. Noise disappears once warm so i just put up with it.

Does not go away when the engine is hot  :(

Will have a look at the manifold  :y
