Title: CAM belt CD
Post by: miggy on 25 January 2012, 12:00:46
I had the Cam belt change CD recently from the oof shop, i must say this is a brilliant CD, i followed it to the letter and it all want back together with no hiccups, started fist time and runs sweet, with a new water pump also.

I had the laptop charged, stuck it on the top of engine and followed the instructions to the letter.

All i had to purchase was the locking kit which cost £99.00 from fleebay, i then resold it on fleebay and got £115 for it on auction.

If any of you guys are thinking of doing a belt change but are not sure, go for it, it saved me a shed loads of cash, the only tool outlay was the cam locking kit but i made on that when resold.

Hats off to the guys who put this together. :y :y :y :y

Couldnt agree more. That little piece of plastic is priceless as far as Im concerned.Used it for guidance to change the belts on both my Omegas.Saved me a fortune and gives the piece of mind that the job was done properly, rather than "near enough is good enough" which is what you get from most garages, VX dealers included.

I seen this and when I get my cambelt come up I'm going to give it a bash.

What's the net outlay for doing it yourself?

£99 for DVD, Cambelt kit? Water pump?

I think the lock off kit is around 100 quid.

A new cam belt / tentioner and a water pump / gallon of red anti freeze cost iirc, about 140 quid  :-\

I'm gonna see what the mot man says during March.
If the shed is not too bad, i'll stick a ticket on it and look into doing the cam belt and tentioner on mine this spring  :y

Thats if this chuffin whine doesn't make the thing go bang first  ::) ;D

Pm andyc for trade prices  :y

Not tried to do the job myself but recon its not too bad if you follow the instruction to the letter  :-\

I'll see how I feel in March but to be honest, if your not confident with a spanner.  Pm one of the mechanics on here  :y
