Evening all :y
Quick question:
Is the CRB the same as a Police Report? :-\
Ta muchly :y

Hi Al
It depends which one you mean, iirc there's two types......one is more extensive and costs more.
But the basic one, is just a police records check, iirc, which is all you need if you are going to be doing council contracts carrying kiddies :y and then i dont think all councils bother with it.. :-\

Thought that would have been the "enhanced" CRB :-\

Should add......my firm paid for mine years ago.....about 8 years ago......but i think they are 'suppose' to be done annually.....however as i refuse to do 'school runs' and when my arm does get twisted to do one....i will only do it, if an escort accompanies the run.....i dont need a current CRB check.

We have to have the extended CRB check every 3years, but just wanted to clarify if a Police Report was one and the same thing :-\
I've never had a negative CRB check,(worked at Gatwick for 12 years and cabbing for 5+, so had several), but thinking of emigrating for which I'll need a Police Report. Was no Damien as a spotty yoof, but have had a couple of conversations with uncle Bill... :-X

CRB Enhanced will normally count for a police report as it provides more info than the latter would. The issue will be dates and whether they would accept one from a year or so ago or want one dated in the last x amount of days...

Can be upto 3 months old :y

My son has two part time jobs working with children, he had to have seperate CRB checks even thought the first check was only a couple of months old. He is looking at doing some voluntary work in a local school to bolster his C.V and has been informed he will probably need another check even though his last one was only about three months ago :-\

That sounds about right Tony ::). Had two within a month when I was applying for my first taxi licence...
-
Yup, CRB checks are not transferable and have to be obtained for every organisation you work/volunteer for

There is a move to change this as it can get, as you say, quite stupid.....
To work with Kids and Vulnerable Adults you need an Enhanced CRB check, only taking about 2 weeks at the moment, this is valid for 3 years and is a National Check.
Police Checks are different and usually just done locally by professionals in certain situations......
Under 'Sarah's Law' not sure what the exact legislation is, anyone with good reason can request a check to see if a person is known to be of concern to authorities if alone with children, a single mother perhaps who may want to check out a potential partner.
Hope this helps... :y
