Hiya fellas, as per title really. Looking for advice on your chosen steel capped work boots 'cos my feet are bloody killing me. Currently wearing relatively cheap Karrimor which just won't last 8 hrs on my feet. My feet are still humming/buzzing now.
Are Cats/Timberlands really worth the money? The Dewault Apprentice seems popular but is it comfy? I think they will have to be dual density soles :-\
Any advice appreciated fellas, cheers :y

I have been wearing Dewalt Apprentice for years (yes they are very comfy and light weight) and thought I would try something different so went for the Dewalt Site boots. Bad choice as they are really heavy and clunky and took me months to get used to. Next pair will be the Apprentices again or may try the trainer type

jve used timberland for years never had a problem and very comfy
-
timberland.. if it wont help, nothing will..
-
I use the cheap non brand ones and they are more comfortable for me than my shoes and trainers.

Hi just started new job and we have to wear steals all day. I bought a pair of dewalt nailers.already comfy i did add some insoles to help. :y
-
Asda , £15 a pair steel toe capped ,get a size bigger than you normally wear and they'll be the most comfy boots you'll find.
I bought a pair on a trip home to Scotland 20 months ago and they're still like new , have another two pairs tucked away . :y

Outdoor ones are fairly straightforward, indoor is rather more difficult IME as most boots tend to be designed for outdoor with thinsulite(?) or similar. Way too warm for indoor work and I end up drilling holes in the leather for ventilation.
I tend to go for trainers or shoes. Guys at work say the puma safety trainers are just like normal trainers. But are over £50.
Yet to find a pair I am happy with tbh... :-\

Timberland for me. I did wear caterpillars for years with no problems as well though. :y Worth it to me as I only wear boots, I never wear shoes or trainers. Cheap boots play havoc with my feet.
-
Thats 3 Timberlands so far! Been looking at the Timberland Pro which are knocking £80 :o (but if they do the job). Bit the same as Chris G, I've yet to find a pair i'm happy with and am now sick of aching feet each day. Got to be boots - I work inside and outside all year round so not too fussed about hot feet and trainers never feel like they would do the job. Might have to give Timberland at Bicester Retail park a call to see how much! They also seem to be one of the few with dual density soles!
Cheers fellas :y

normally use dickies ( dont go there millwall) they do a steel hiking type boot light and comfy trade price thing was around £30
-
ive had cheap boots and big money boots and one of the best ive had are doc martains.
what i would say is forget the name and go for the fit also go for the lightest boot.
at the moment ive got some cat ones they about 6 months old the fit is good but they still dont feel broke in [and they are worn 8plus hours a day] but the sole is nearly worn out so quite dissapointed as they cost a lot will be looking for a new pair soon.

That's what we were supplied by the docks and they were superb! Comfy from day 1 too :y Unlike the expensive composite (have to be metal free now for obvious reasons ::)) which still aren't as comfortable after 12 weeks >:(
-
I have a pair of non-branded safety shoes, which are similar to the dickies boots in Pauls Dickies link, they cost about £25 and I've had them for years!! :y :y :y

I found no matter what brand i use boots were always uncomfy,
however donkeys years ago someone told me to try a pair of rigger boots,
20 odd years on and i still wear them for working!! cant beat em!
i work in a 6500 sq meter garden(wild) out here in 40 degree heat and still comfy!!
I wear the for riding the quad cross country
repairing cars in the workshop often for ten hours at a time and con honestly say never had a bad moment with em,
apart from the first three days while you break em in!!! lol :y

Liking these fella - dual density soles aswell. Could well be worth a punt :y
Tried Docs a few years ago and the inner stiching wasn't flush round the heel, sodding great blisters on both heels. The tread wore out too quick and when broken in, weren't quite what i expected.
Dickies?? Can't bring myself to wear any of their gear 'cos of the name - i know its daft!
;DSteeltoe slingbacks could be a weekend winner if they're red or even thigh jobs- like it ;D
Cheers for the extra ideas fellas, appreciated :y
