Hello :)
Have reasently bought myself two Omega F/L, one saloon with 2,2 Auto, somewhat like yors GLS, but with the standard Norwegian package, HID, washers, 4*el.windows, cruise and an LSD.
The other one is an Estate, like yors cd, but named Elegance here, also a 2,2, but with a manual gearbox, standard Norwegian package, velour, wood and car computer. This one is smashed in the fornt and rear an is for parts only.
The Saloon was bought unseen, cheap from a dealer who couldn't get it to start ;D
Picture from when it was picked up 500km from my home. As you can se on the photos, my friend has the equipment to bring home even an Omega on icy roads in northern Norway :y :y :y Excursion with 4" lift and 7,3 powerstroke diesel :y :y :y
(http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m141/sehen/IMAG0144.jpg)
Car looks god, has no rust, have never seen salty roads :y
(http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m141/sehen/IMAG0143.jpg)
Got it home safe 8) and started to investegate what the problem could be.
After 5 hours I had it running from a homemade fueltank of 4 liter, pump from the estate and a return line, connected directly to the battery.
The fault codes was long as .... , but to make the list short. 50/50 with gasoline and diesel in the tank, dead coil on the third sylinder, faulty airflow meter, knock sensor(?) and fan switch on the radiator.(allways on)
When I changed the Airflow meter, the faultcodes on the autobox never came back....... What is that??? 1700 code IIRC...
So to the rest of the car...New shocks, brakes with calipers and mountings, new exhaust and so on :y :y :y
The only thing i could find before the MOT was the Idler arm, wich I replaced.
Offcourse the garage did find one thing :-[ Left side wishbone balljoint. Ordered a new Lemförder yesterday at £45.
Mounted it today, outside in -3...se picture ;D
(http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m141/sehen/IMAG0157.jpg)
The sharp ones of you would now have noticed that the 3 lights on the bonnet is gone. Not allowed with 3 in Norway, only two, so I am using the bonnet from the estate as the MOT bonnet ;) I have a plan with the other bonnet including 55w HID...
So tomorrow I'm going to get the licenceplates and pay the gouverment £705 to get my name on the papers of the car >:( >:( >:(
Yes, that's only for changing the name on the registration...... road tax is due in march....
And I had forgotten how comfy and nice a standard Omega with Auto is to drive, even with the 2,2.thought it would be slower :)
So it will stay this way for a while, the only thing I'm going to do, is to move the interior and car computer from the estate :y
-
looks nice good luck getting it all sorted :y glad the lights are gone they looked a bit crap :y

Thanks :) It's all sorted out now, and regarding the lights... it's only 4 hours of daylight here in the winter, and a lot of moose and reindeer around here. So good lightning is needed :y But have BiXenon 55w kit in a box someplace, and 55W H7 HID is on order for the long beam, so maybe I dont need the extra lights ;) Time will show :D

Well done getting it started, so it was diesel in the petrol, Lazy Docker could have helped you with that ;D ;D
You certainly are determined working in snow like that :y

I didn't realise Norway was so expensive, is that normal just for registration of an import? :y and respect for sticking with it M8

When I went there Oslo was the most expensive City in the world, just ahead of Tokyo :y

Thanks
It's not an import... thats just for registration in my name :o :o :o :o (changing owner)
And the normal price for that car is £6000........ Paid £1500 for it.
And have to get it sorted out, becouse my sons cousine bought his 95 2,5 CD saloon, and my son took my 98 2,5mini F/L 14 days ago. Both 19 years old, so they couldn't wait until i got the car on the road ;) Gotta help this kids a bit ::)
My son came by today, and I had to take that old miggy for a spin in the snow, all polys,2,5 V6, manual, camberkit, lowered 40 mil and yellow Koni's. Long time since I've had so much fun :y :y :y Sideways in 80MPH on icy roads, and the V6 skreaming in 3 gear...priceless ;D ;D ;D ;D
It's a nice car, handles well. Maybe get some pictures out in the morning :D
After driving the V6, I recon the four pot isn't staying in that F/L for long. Already looking for an 3,2 , leather and manual in germany and UK :y :y
-
So, finally got the licenceplates on the car, passed the MOT and payed alot of money to get my name on the registration papers :)
Took it out for a spin today, and everything worked fine :y :y :y
It even has the Licensplates from my home town all the way up north, by the russian border :y
Only 15" snowtyres on it...looks so tiny on the big car :-\
Pictures :)

And here you se the Estate that i picked up in Sweden, with an engine that have only done 60000 miles :y
It will be dismantled into atoms next week, and then it will join all the other Omegas on the etarnal hunting grounds 8)

I just bought a 2.0 cdx to pacify the missus really, she hates my Volvo 850 T5, way too fast for her and damm bumpy due to uprated suspension. Really, really hoping now Im back with Omegas I dont get the 3.0 Elite bug ::)
( not much hope is there ) ;)

No, there isn't ;)
I'm going to do a Bilstein B6/20-30mill. drop on the F/L, and then the poly donut and wisbone front bushing.
Black leather and som 18 " sportstars or Brock B12.
And if Opel says it's OK, I will defenatly go for the 3,2 with manual :y :y :y :y
(realy got to stop driving my old car...)

Some pictures of my old one, that my son did take over :y He sold his 95 2,5 V6 to his cousin :)
He loves his new car alot, no wonder, regarding all the money and time I have spent on it :'( And it's a bitch driving it, and then going back to the F/L... But what the heck...he's 19, and deserves to have a little fun :y :y :y

Sooo, not been here for a while, busy times.
But haven't happening much with the omega until now. Spending way to much time away from internet, and the car :'(
Just came back from my brother in Sweden, and he had something nice in his garage, that suited my car perfectly ;D
This :)
And these I found in a scrapper in norway, did a refurb an new Nankang 225's.
And then a Cadillac Catera grill 8)
And this is what i've been doing today, all these parts are on it's way in to the spare engine of mine.
Have only done about 60K miles, but the engine have been standing still so long, so that the exhaust cam and three lifters had some serious rust on it, hence the complete teardown for inspection :)

That little lot should keep you busy ::)
-
I like your car, but I really don't like the catera grille. Somehow makes it looks cheap to me. Still, it's your car and I'm sure your happy with it. Keep up the good work :y :y
-
Nice one :y

Yes it would :) Allready have it honed, and getting sorted out what bearing to fit( color coded and numbered)
Only thing to do now is a check of the valves and reassembly :)
