Title: Omega Engine Advice
Post by: roberts_1409 on 26 January 2012, 20:46:03
Hello again, just got an Omega 2.5 V6 Manual, and its great, now thinking about getting a facelift Omega for a full time car

Would prefer to stick with a manual, but what engine would you recommend? Would like decent speed and fairly decent MPG

Cheers

Realistically, the MPG is going to be poor (unless you buy a diseasel, which like Albs, I know nowt about) but the money you save on the purchase price you can put towards petroleum.  :y

If you really want 3 pedals then I reckon you've a better chance of finding a 2.5, most 3.0s have 2 pedals though I'm sure if you looked long enough you'd find what you want. If you want a 3.2 manual then it'd be ex Plod & been driven to within an inch of its life in most cases (all civvy 3.2s came with a proper gearbox  ::))

If you want decent mpg .................... you need to look elsewhere & not an Omega.  ;) ;)

Thought that might be the case. Getting same mpg on this as I am on my 1.8 Vectra, so not too bad.
Thanks

I'm getting 20mpg on town runs. Is the Vectra that bad?  :-\

Basically, yes. I took it out on Friday night, but £20, drove 35 miles and used 2.5gallons. Out of a 1.8 i dont think its that great, bearing in mind the Omega 2.5 i'm gettin 22mpg with alot more power!
Switched insurance over yesterday to the Omega, and its only costing me an extra £7 a year!
