Hi guys.
If I'm right, the 2.2 petrol has a pre-cat and a main cat. If I were to knock the insides out of the pre-cat, would this bring up the EML? From what I can remember the lambdas will ignore it and focus only on the main cat but I can't remember.
Cheers.

That will depend on whether the post cat sensor is before or after the second/main cat
-
If memory serves it's AFTER the main cat and the first one is before the pre-cat but I'll double check that tomorrow.

If its after the main cat you should be ok as long as the main cat is working as it should be :y

I've narrowed it down to being one of the rattles the car has. If I tap it with a hammer I can hear things moving around inside. I'd rather take it out and smash the guts out of it before it blocks the rest of the system. Also hoping to maybe squeeze another couple of BHP from it!

Main sensor should be before the pre-cat......or it wont be able to monitor mixture. :y

Right so the first sensor is before the pre-cat, and the second is after the main one. The main cat was replaced with a Vauxhall one a couple of years ago so that's in good condition. In that case out comes the pre-cat then. This sound ok to you more experienced people? Heard of people doing it on the V6 engines but that's it.
