Hi all,
I am going to endeavour to change the battery on the car tonight which has by the looks of it been on it since new. I have had a look through the maintenance guides but can't seem to see an answer to my question. Quite a simple one really.
What is the best/correct way to remove the battery and how do I remove the fuse pack that sits above the battery so I can get to the positive terminal?
Cheers,
Dan.

firstly undo negative terminal but dont take off or power sounder will go off ::) go to car and switch on ignition turn off then you have 15secs to take off the negative terminal and power sounder will not go off :y the fuse carrier above positive terminal is held on to the larger fuse carrier by 2 x plastic clips look inbetween them and you will see press the clips and remove upwards, more than likely it will come off if you just pull upwards :y
lastly have you your radio code? because it will kill radio and you have to input the code (unless code disabled or ncdc) the windows/sunroof will all have to reset aswell look at the guides and it will tell you how in there :y
hope this helps :y

Plus 13mm Socket with long extension to undo the Battery Holder Clamp, which if its been in place since day 1 will probably snap the bolt, so either redrill and Tap or drill another hole about 15mm away from it and use Stainless Steel Nut and bolt to refit.

Poke your key in the gap between the fuse carrier bit & the triangular main fuse/relay box & the two should easily separate. :y :y

It does remond me that mine needs fitting properly. I think the clamp/plate in on upside down cs I noticed that it doesn't actually clamp the battery before the bolt tightens :-\

Will fail an MOT without the Clamp, as from Jan 2012.

3) Car Battery Security
The battery will be checked for security. This should present few problems unless the wrong sized battery is fitted, the clamp is loose or corrosion has affected support or security of the battery.
;) ;)

Yes my clamp bolt sheared off now got a nut and bolt

Has always been an item checked at the roadside under the Ways & Means Act ;)

Guessing you perhaps means RV(C&U) Regs? ;D
Certainly always was a fail and an immediate PG9 prohibition (not a simple 21 day fix and examine at test station), particularly if the driver failed the Mk1 Attitude Test interpretation schedule.... :)

Thanks folks, I have a new battery will try fitting it tomorrow night... :y

Will be dead easy mate.
That small fuse box.... just open it, push on the middle plastic piece and pop fuse box up at same time. Easy :)
