Title: Got all excited...
Post by: sticka_v8_init on 05 February 2012, 07:32:22
Just seen the door below on fleabay and started to think that finally I'd bloody found one. Been looking for a pair since ive had the car, but bugger me the paint code was wrong - i need 359/46L,46U: Jungle Green Mica >:(

Is the price about right for a door these days, seems like a p take :-\  If its the going rate then i'm all for P38 and a rattle can, already done Kurust to tone it down a bit.

although time consuming, if you have a good paint shop in your area and a good painter, you can prepare that color and apply it.. most paintshops have already painted cars in your color so they know its mixture (may be not exact but very close to it) .. so with some trials they can prepare it.. my advice will  be , if you prefer that route try color matching with applied 2 coats of laquer as it also changes the color tone.. and start with 0.5 kg paints as they are not cheap.. good luck.. :y

ps: as the weather nowadays is very cold , paint will take very long time to dry.. so its best you delay it until april, may..

pps: forgot to say , you can test them on test cards (readily sold at painshops)

The price is high IMO but he is good and sends parts out by return. I have used him for many parts over the years if you tell him you are on the forum he may do you a better deal he does for me  :y

I recently scrapped a 2003 estate shell with all 4 doors still attached.  All 4 were spotless with no rust on them at all.  I was asking £25 each, or all 4 for £80, and I still could sell them.  :(

Thats a good heads up for any possible spares needs fellas, cheers :y

Somehow don't think he'd come down to mine and Twiglets rough price thinking of £25-30 per door.

The same colour as the Ebay link or mine? Bit far maybe but all my relatives are round your neck of the woods/ Southport, Rainford, Skem etc so could combine a trip. Can't seem to find my colour anywhere. Be appreciated if you could have a look at the condition of them next time you pop in. Cheers :y
