If its the new shape 1.8 i -shift i had one....and it was useless. slow gearchanges, jerky slow gearbox drained all the power. Nice car spoiled by a very poor gearbox.

Also, you can just pop it in to Auto mode if you can't be arsed to use the paddles or shifter :y

If its the recent funky shaped one then its not too bad at all. Essentially an auto with paddle shift if you want to use those. It is no different to most small cars with an auto gearbox. Certainly its no DSG or race car but very acceptable to live with, particularly if you do a lot of town driving. My friend has one and she loves it. Certainly wouldnt discount it without an extended test drive.

i can remeber driving a corsa with that type of gearbox....thought at one point the gearbox was about to drop out lol :y

And since when did a Corsa become a Civic? One is a reliable japanese car the other is an unreliable vauxhall (at least in my opinion).

Where's the problem with him saying about the Corsa, the question was asked about gearboxes actually, not just a Honda Civic.

And where do you think most Vx manual gearboxes are made..... :y

iirc, the "reliable" Japanese engines in the rovers weren't much cop ???
