I went to diagnose a coolant leak today for a chap who found me via my website. 3.2 V6, 2003 Elite, with 140k I believe. (very nice car!)
Information given to me was that it was loosing around half a litre of coolant every couple of days, and some coolant seemed to be settling on the front of the sump.
Initially I thought possible water pump leak.
I stiripped out all the inlet items from the V, and applied a little pressure to the coolant system. I didn't need a pump, blowing into the pipe was enough.
Instantly there was a nice big river, from the 'V'.
The cause?
A nice notable hole, in the oil cooler plate!
Poor coolant maintenance in a past life, me thinks! :D
