I visited Tony and his team this Saturday in hope of sorting out my MV6. For a while, it's been tramlining, not cornering well. Rear tyre has had a flat spot, and there has been a small wobble throughout the car between 60-70mph which was getting up my nose.
First job was up on the ramp for the suspension geometry.
Here, all of the settings were absolutely bang on what Tony wanted them to be - camber, castor, etc - aside of the toe - which was well out. So - only one adjustment needed :)
Tony's colleague set to work tirelessly freeing up my track rod adjusters, using heat/spray and lots of patience, before setting the tracking to where it needed to be.
Tony was also really good, and spent a good length of time explaining bits and peices to me, around tyre construction, and the issues I'd been having.
After that - it went round into the BlackBoots bay for a new set of tyres (all round, four of) and obviously balancing/valves etc.
The drive home was superb. I went from Chesham, down to Gosport to visit someone, and then back towards Gloucestershire. In total I did 300 miles yesterday. The steering feels way more precise. The car feels like it goes in a straight line, without needing correction.
The wobble is gone. When cornering, it feels reassuring, like it will stay on the road, whereas before, it was like driving a boat.
Once I hit the A34 dual carriageway, towards the M4, the weather turned awful. Much of my 300 miles was in wet, icy weather. The last 40 miles of my trip was in heavy snow, the last 20 miles of which I saw about 5 cars spin off, and many more lose traction, on the A419!
Admittedly I was driving carefully, no brake applications or sudden changes of speed etc, but still, I cannot stress how impressed I was with the way the car behaved, and the outstanding levels of grip, in these conditions.
I saw two cars trying to get up nettleton bottom hill (some of you may know it) - and fail. I was filled with dread when I knew I had a rear wheel drive Omega to get up there! However, I hit the snow button, kept just the right amount of power down, and it went up there with no fuss at all!!!
On top of this, Tony and the team were really welcoming and friendly - and very understanding when I called to say I'd be late due to a holdup.
Some people have said I was mad to go that far to get some tyres and tracking - but honestly - I won't go anywhere else, now.... I'm hugely impressed with the whole outfit.
I was also really impressed with the price.
Thanks again, Tony and Team, I'd recommend you to anyone :)
