Title: New exhaust
Post by: GOLDENREBEEVER on 05 February 2012, 19:53:46
Hi there,
I bought my first omega last Thurs and love the car already! I have detected a slight blow on the exaust though on what looks like a flanged joint near the centre. Could anybody advise on a fix and give an idea on prices for a replacement? cheers, Dave. :y

Is it a joint with a clamp coupling?  If so, could be worth removing the clamp and pulling/pushing the sleeved joint further shut/tight.  If your not happy doing such stuff, your local fastfit place might be worth a look of a lunchtime with a cash donation to the fitters biscuit fund.

Dont get roped into paying for any other suspension/tyre/whatever work though before chacking back here.....   ;)

No mate, looks like 2 flanges secured with 2 bolts but not got any ramps to have a proper look.

That will be the downpipe to system coupling then.  Bolts are generally corroded to buggery and snap when attempting to remove, despite loads of plusgas and other liquid release agents for a few days beforehand.

You might get lucky but will most probably snap requiring you to drill out the bolt end and repair/refit the joint with bolts and nuts on the other side to make the task simpler next time.
