The smoke is nothing to worry about, it's normal & it's only noticable in cold weather. There's alot of diesels do it.
As for the other problem, I'm not sure.

Alarm... Start by checking the bonnet switch and the connections to the break sensors in the rear side glasses. I've heard both of them causing issues with setting the alarm off.
Under the osf wing, you have a diesel powered coolant heater. It kicks in under 5 degrees air temp, and helps to get the coolant up to temperature quicker from cold starts. It's basically a little 3kW boiler, and has it's own little exhaust which is where you are seeing the smoke from... totally normal. :y

The beeping might also indicate that the powersounder is about to die.

do u have to buy a new power sounder then would that be the reason i run out to car and the horn goes loud then dull then after a few seconds it beeps really loud i try to turn off the alarm the noise stops sometimes then goes again i get in turn the key and engine starts and still beeps until i take key out weird u feel like keeping your eye on car which is time consuming as neighbours say its going off again :-\

Most likely to be power sounder but here is a bit of an unusual cause of alarm triggering about 30 mins.after lock up.
Does the heated rear screen work ?
I had this problem which was proved to be due to busted heated rear screen element. It was caused by carrying a large woody hydrangea in the back of the full car. The woody stems managed to bust every single strand of the heater element during a 14 mile journey. I did manage to disable this continuity check by changing the wiring in the front drivers foot well side panel, until the screen was replaced, but it is so long ago I have forgotten what I did!
The integrity of the rear screen is checked by the alarm system via the heater element continuity.
Check with a meter across the element connectors , or even on the actual wires on the inside of the rear screen.
best of luck

if power sounder is going off you only have to put ignition to position 2 then off and powersounder should stop you dont have to start car :y if full alarm is going off i would first check bonnet switch unplug it and see if that stops the alarm going off ;) what can happen is that te bonnet switch is only just making contact with the bonnet and after driving and warming everything up it is making contact as it rapidly cools off in these temperatures metals contracts and you lose contacts hence the 30min period :y try unplugging if that cures it you can then bend bracket up slightly so its making the contact it should :y but dont bend until you have unplugged and tested otherwise you dont know whether it is the bonnet switch at fault or something else :y
hope this helps you out ;)
if power sounder is beeping i would take it out of the car can cause fires :(, but due to insurance purposes you should really replace :y

hi and thanks have unplugged bonnet sensor and it still goes off and horn sounds full on then dulls bt then the beeping i presume is the power sounder goes off until i put key in and start car and beeping is still going with engine running then stops is power sender possible to replace i saw on here it has rechargable batteries in them can i simply unplug and replace with a new one or is it vauxhall that should do it does it require seting back up afterwards
thanks ;)

powersounder should only go off if the battery is disconnected, as you say car alarm goes off then dulls wonder if your battery is nearly flat therefore making the powersounder think its disconnected :-\ but in normal terms a beeping power sounder means that its fubared there is a howto on here that shows how to replace the batteries in it :y also think it was andyB or robG that posted up a cheap replacement sounder :y if alarm still going off with bonnet switch disconnected then you will have to start delving deeper is it an estate?
edit---- yes it is an estate :-[ the other thing to check is the rear window alarm strips just seems funny that it is a set amount of time before the alarm triggers :-\
sorry cant be more help unless i suddenly have a brainwave but doubtful seeing as the whiskey bottle is out :y
