Title: Quick tractor question
Post by: GmasterT on 09 February 2012, 22:06:41
Will the main fuel pump, starter and air con pump transfer and work on a BMW 525tds? I just want to confirm as I think the do, but seem to think the fuel pump won't work on either that or the p38 RR

Many thanks  :y

You mean the injection pump ........... yes?

It may well actually 'work' ......... BUT ......... in the Omega application, the M51D lump is de-tuned to 128 BHP, rather than the 143 BHP of the 525tds. There may well be some trickery needed at the ECU; plus as LD says, the actual method of fuel supply from the tank could be different.

I'd imagine that the starter motor would be the same, though the air-con pump may be a different story.

Ideally, take a good look at the 'pure BMW' car before committing yourself is my suggestion! :-\

There are 2 different types of M51 engine fitted to UK Omegas, you do have to be careful about pumps, as there are some rules. Generally, older pumps work with newer ECUs, but newer pumps won't work with older ECUs (all from memory, but think thats the right way round)
