Title: Collecting this on Saturday
Post by: cableguy on 10 February 2012, 17:19:28
Tomorrow i will be off to Blackpool to collect this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250988633574?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250988633574?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)
Hope i have made a good choice. It all sounds genuine and i have checked the MOT History and its had a new exhaust, front tyres and break pipes so that cant be bad.
Managed to get it for £600 which I'm quite happy with  :D

Got a few ideas for it, like cruise and trip computer but firstly i will get rid of those LED strips at the front. I really dislike them  >:(  ;D

I'm glad you've bought it...I remember seeing it on ebay and thinking how terrible those LED's looked...you'll have saved it from the disgrace of looking like an Audi  ;D

Look over it carefully, the seller is clearly a retard going by those stupid LED lights and the all stupid large red font advert.

As above, look over carefully. Saw this and thought it looked a nice car apart from the LED lights. The dropping of "h" all the time (right, ere we ave.........the car as had etc). Plus only the green slip... good luck, hope its a good one for you :y

Well i can say that the car is now back home with me waiting to have it's led's removed after i warm up and have a brew  :y

Car is in Ok condition, It had 2 tiny bits of rust on the drivers door and passenger door (Looks like a stone chip)
The roof is sadly slightly faided, but nothing serious.
Front bumper has a scuff on the passenger side.
Interior needs a valet as its cream. (Hence the seat covers)
The wire from the cam sensor to the loom has been botched together, but should be an easy fix or just replaced completely.
Both wing mirrors are cracked slightly on the edge.
The A/C panel is in Fahrenheit and not degrees.

Apart from that she runs sweet, and is really quite on the motorway (compared to my 1.9SDi Fabia) Very comfy and roomy and surprisingly the alloys are in good nick too  :o

Hope it's good for you.  :y

What I don't understand is why everyone has such a downer on the day running lights. All new cars have them from 2011 I think. You could do what I have done and position somewhere where they look good.

Face it guys you will probably all end up with these lights one day.

Remember, you're posting on a forum where people lust over 25 year old Ford Granadas .. ;) ;D

I thought they were mandatory from this year - though a friend just got a new Audi A1 and apparently they were an optional extra (that he declined), so perhaps not. Or not yet, anyway.

;D ;D Ah now I understand. Interesting bit on the Audi, I thought they where a legal requirement, but possibly not now. Wonder if they backtracked on it.

The only 25 year old thing I lust over certainly wont have 4 wheels  :y :y

DRL's are only compulsory on new designs from 2011, so unless ut was a brand new model release they aren't required ;)

Ah that makes perfect sense. So from ~2015 or so you'll have no option but to like it or lump it, so to speak :)

Probably... No plans AFAIK to make them a compulsory retro-fit though ;)

Mind you, I tend to leave a minimum of sidelights on all the time in the van anyway, easy enough to turn the switch when needed and they go on/off with the ignition anyway ;)

I meant if someone wanted a new car :) You're right, they couldn't mandate a retro-fit (hopefully!). Although it might mean my period replica kit car ends up with LED DRLs... I don't think anyone is quite sure what the law will be on that, yet.

At this time of year I have the lights on the car pretty much constantly - although you'd think a big Omega would be easy to spot. Granted green does tend to blend with the undergrowth quite well..

Never ceases to amaze me the number of people who don't have their lights on in fog/mist/dusk though - I suspect 'automatic' lights and DRLs will only make this worse.
