Title: Heater not working
Post by: hughb on 12 February 2012, 06:36:49
I have just bought a 1997 2.0 16v GLS- no airco and when the heater  switches are turned on hot there is a little nearly warm air coming out- when the controls are turned to cold the air is really cold so something is happening when the dials are turned but I nearly got frostbite last night!! The fan works as well. Please can anyone suggest what could be up with this. Many thanks    :D

Yes thermostat running fine- gauge runs in the centre!! Have been looking through the site and there seems to be something about flushing the heater water out??   :-\

Unfortunately it doesn't have any airco! Having read more on here I am going to try flushing the radiator, probably no anti freeze anyway then if that doesn't work flush the heater matrix. Thanks

have you keeped it garaged or out side, if no anti freeze would leave till the temp out side is warm. that maybe to late if you have been running engine if you say the temp is half way. you may need to check the head gasket after a back flushing the systerm, also the rad veins pipes etc to make sure they are of and not bulging out any were. also the water pump seal. if not had any anti freeze in it may have damaged somthing else.
