Title: Tyre What To Do?
Post by: cleggy on 14 February 2012, 08:51:17: I put four Avon ZV5 225/55/16 95w tyres on the car around 3k miles ago so nearly new. Yesterday flat rear nearside a bloody clout nail near the tyre wall FREAKIN BUILDERS!! working in the crescent. The upshot was that it couldn't be plugged so new tyre was need and the tyre shop put a nearly new Overdetta Velocity 225/55r/16 99vxl on for £30. Now I've never heard of them so the quandry is whether to keep it on or replace it with a new Avon ZX5 :-\ :-\ I guess for £90 and hopefully £20 back from the tyre shop he is a mate ;D Or I will find out ;D ;D.

I am leaning towards the new Avon, what would you do :-\

Post by: Agemo on 14 February 2012, 08:59:05: I know how you are thinking, I like identical tyres, at least on the same axle. I suppose it's down to whether you can afford it, obviously the "best" option is another Avon, but if you are happy with your Overdetta Velocity, then see if your mate can get you another to match. You can source a spare alloy from a breaker on here cheap enough. Just my thoughts.

When I got my Estate I binned a tyre with about 500 miles on it because it was an unknown brand and I had no confidence in it, plus I needed to replace a tyre that was on the limit so had a matching pair on the axle :y
