				As above
I've found out what the grinding noise on my back end is  :o
Both of the nails that secure the shoe to the backplate have poped out and destroyed both nail / springs  :'(
Where is the best place to get a pair (vauxhall or local  factors) ?
Approx how much ?
Can you buy the backplate and is it easy to change or am I going to have to bodge / weld the little buggers in

I had the same problem. I ended up getting a pair off a donor car. The problem I had was noone wanted to take them off a breaking car because it is quite a big job.
Also when I fitted them I had to replace the bearings too as it pulled them apparat removing the old ones.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. I did a "bodge" by using new pins, and fitting cupped washers behind the backplate, after grinding off one side, (so they are slightly "D"" shaped). Although I don't normally recommend bodges, it worked perfectly, and they are still there two years later.

Scraped the rust of the backplate.
Bit of manipulation with a screwdriver to make the hole look something like.
A nail kit with new nails and springs and a tube of Plastic Padding's Chemical Metal  :y
Worked a treat  :y
Thanks all  :y
